Leps Dominate From Start To Finish In 52-0 Victory Over Unbeaten Carrollton

It was more than just Homecoming Night at Louisville Stadium.  Our Mighty Leopards were entering the NBC Showdown against a Team that had made a complete turnaround from the 2008 Season as the Carrollton Warriors entered with an identical 6 and 0 Record.  It seems like Week In and Week Out Coach Paul Farrah and his Coaching Staff find another Diamond in the Rough with the Who’s Turn is it to step up philosophy for Our Leopards when our Leopard Faithful need it the most!  This week it was a pair of Junior who made Huge Contributions to enable our Beloved Leps to stay Unbeaten in a 52-0 Shutout over the Carrollton Warriors.

Every week the Word “TEAM” seems even more prevalent.  Each week, Defensive Coordinator Nick Lewis makes the right adjustments to get the Job Done.  Junior  #15 Jeremy White stepped up Big with Two Interceptions and a number of pass Break-Ups for our Stellar Leps Defense.  With #9 Michael Schooley shifting over to Defensive End.  Junior #33 Matt Dunnerstick made his first start at Outside Linebacker and provided Blanket Coverage all night for the Leps and proved how Deep this 2009 Leopard Team remains.  Both of these Juniors added to our Juggernaught Defense that did not give an inch!!!  When you talk about this Defense, you have to start with Four Outstanding Seniors!  The Man in the Middle, Captain #24 Hunter Potts has been Freakin’ Outstanding with continuous Bone Jarring Hit after Hit along with his Counterpart Captain #34 Jake Adkins who is Steady as the Day is Long at Outside Linebacker.  Along with #33 Matt Dunnerstick, Coach Troy Davis has this Linebacking Core playing with Tremendous Consistency every series.  The other Two Seniors are No Ordinary Joe’s as Senior #55 Joe Poyser has been Freakin’ Unstoppable and continues to put up Record Breaking Tackle For Loss Numbers along side Senior Noseguard #51 Joe Henderson, who  has been an Unsung Hero for our Leps Defense with taking on Double Teams and continuously Plugging the Middle.  The Defense also continues an effective rotation along the Front Five as Coach Mike Norris and Coach Adam Burris utilize Captain #50 Bobby Gothot, #36 Billy Kennedy, #61 Zac Whaley, #49 Mat Wharmby, #14 Dan Zavarelli, and #9 Michael Schooley.  This Front Eight group has put a pair of “ZEROES” on the Board Two Straight Weeks and A Wise Man Once Told Me, if you can’t score ---you can’t Win!!  Now, let’s not forget about our Fine Defensive Backfield.  Our General in 2009 has been safety Junior #44 Mitch Sluss with Senior #31 Kyle DeHoff and #15 Jeremy White manning the Corners.  Carrollton tested this unit Early and Often with Very Little Effectiveness.  All in all,  I have not given a Play By Play but this Defensive Unit has been the Heart of the 2009 Leopards and truly Set The Tempo with giving up 50 Total Yards and -6 Rushing in the 52 to 0 Drubbing of Unbeaten Carrollton.

Oh Yah,  Let’s not forget the other Side Of The Ball.  Offensive Coordinator John DeMarco continues to make adjustments and the numbers Don’t Lie.  Sophomore  #16 Chad Neff got his first start at Quarterback and the Warriors found out early what an imposing force he is  as a Runner.  #16 Neff got it started Early with a 10 Yard TD Run.  On the very next Series Sophomore #7 Lucas Poyser got into the Act.  Super Soph Poyser reminded me of one of my Favorites from my Favorite Team “The Lions”  as Poyser made several great Barry Sanders like cuts as Little Poys found paydirt for a 27 Yard TD Run.  This gave the Leps an Early 14 to 0 First Quarter Lead.  These two Soph’s were not Done.  #16 Chad Neff reached paydirt two more times with 44 and 15 Yard Touchdown Runs.  #16 Neff ended the night with 169 Yards and Three TD’s on 20 carries.  #7 Lucas Poyser also found Paydirt two more times with 8 and 1 Yard TD Runs as Poyser Finished the Night with 121 Yards on 13 Carries and Three Touchdowns.  Coach Brian Beatty has Poyser and the Running Backs executing on all Cylinders.  None of these Yards and Big Numbers could be possible without the Boys Up Front.  Coach Dan Radalia continues to get the most out of his FIVE Seniors Up Front and every Week this Unit is getting Better.  The Beef Up Front were instrumental in allowing our Leps “O” to Rush for 351 Yards on 52 Rushing Attempts.  The experienced Seniors led by Captain #50 Bobby Gothot at Center along with Guards #78 Tyler Radalia and #59 Dan McDonald and Tackles #73 Joe Neff and #65 Dan Davis along with Senior Center #62 Nick Case have been the Model of Consistency with opening Gaping Holes and not Drawing Penalties which  can be a Drive Killer.  Keep It Up BOYS!!!—We got A Lot Of Season Left!

Coach John DeMarco has a Good Problem on Offense.  Coach DeMarco has a Second Quarterback that is getting the Job Done.  Junior #13 Toby Minster looks like a Seasoned Veteran and has also been Leading our Leopards on Scoring Drives.  #13 Minster hit #15 Jeremy White with two Passes for 32 Yards that led to a Touchdown.  #15 White led a Receiving Unit that are Learning what it means to be Well Rounded as our Core has been responsible for Blocking Downfield the majority of the Recent Games.  Senior #5 Joe Stoffer leads this unit which includes #22 Lee Ferguson, #21 Jared Strasser, #25 Cody Stocker, and #9 Michael Schooley which all did a Great Job with their Blocking Assignments.  #5 Stoffer also had 3 Catches for 21 Yards on the Night.  Seniors #29 Josh Wolfe, #48 Justin Moulin, #18 Tyler Barnes along with Junior #30 Zach Schillig got extended Snaps at Receiver.  Speaking of Seniors, #27 Michael Brown had a very Good Night at Running Back as Brown Ran Very Hard to close out the Game.  #27 Brown scored our Leopards Final Touchdown of the Night with a 9 Yard Touchdown Run.

Finally, let’s not forget the job that Coach Dustin Nicholas has done with our fine Kicking Game.  Junior #87 Jaron Lohmeyer is coming into his own along with the Kicking Team.  With #50 Bobby Gothot snapping and #13 Toby Minster holding, #87 Lohmeyer has been Perfect for two Straight Weeks  nailing 7 PAT attempts and splitting the Uprights with a 31 Yard Field Goal against the Warriors this week alone. The Kickoff Duties have been handled by Soccer Star #6 Logan Henkel.  #6 Henkel has been a Difference Maker in 2009 with Deep Kicks as well as Pooch Kicks that keep Opponents Off Balance.  #24 Hunter Potts handled the Punting Chores for the Leps!  All in All, Our Mighty Leps remained Unbeaten and #1 in the Statewide AP Poll and Computer Points in Division II through Seven Weeks.

Let’s give a Shout Out for our Homecoming Court and a Couple of Our Own as Captain #34 Jake Adkins was chosen as Homecoming King and #25 Cody Stocker was named as Senior Attendant.  The Boys were rounded out with Chris “KiffyKokal,  Joe Butera, and Freshman Stud Trevor Hostetler  named to the Court.  Congratulations to Kara Zwick who was chosen as the Homecoming Queen as well as Ellie Bobo, Kayleigh Yoder, Victoria Spencer, and Jessica Gray being named as Homecoming Attendants. CONGRATS!
