Louisville JV vs. Akron Hoban

The Louisville Leopard JV team won a hard fought battle at Akron Hoban last Saturday by a score of 14-7. The early going did not look good for the Lep’s as they went down 7-0 on Hoban’s first drive of the game. Louisville was playing without a lot of the JV regulars due to extensive playing time in the varsity game on Friday. Once some new faces settled in the “D” really stepped up and kept Hoban out of the end zone for the rest of the game.

The offensive line, led by Sam Pickens, did a fantastic job in both run blocking and pass protection. Dylon Wasosky had a great day running the ball. Saturday also saw the return of Preston Massey who has been battling a high ankle sprain.

The Lep’s used a well balanced attack to put together a scoring drive in the second quarter. It was capped of f by a nice throw and catch when Jon Crank hooked up with Jake Sluss to put Louisville back in the game. The 2 pt conversion missed and the Lep’s trailed 7-6.

After another great stand by the stingy “D” line the Lep’s went back to work and went on another scoring drive. Crank threw some great passes and went on to complete three critical 3rd down conversions. The passes were hauled in bye Cody McElroy, Rocco Buccasso, and Trevor Meredith. The drive was capped off when McElroy took a reverse from Crank, then pulled up to pass and hit Buccasso in the corner of the end zone to give the Lep’s the lead. The 2 pt conversion was good and L’ville took a 14-7 lead. The defensive play was a total team effort. There were new faces and people playing new positions. The coaches did a fine job of bringing them all together in an effort that was probably their best of the season. Next up for the Lep’s is a home game against Alliance Sat, Oct 17th at 10:00 am.
