Just approximately a Year Ago to the Day, all of our Hearts were Heavy as both Matt Wharmby
and Joe Henderson both suffered severe Leg Injuries along with a Long Road
to Recovery.  On Senior Night A Year Later, our Leopard Faithful got to see
#49 Wharmby and #51 Henderson along with #23 Jordan McQuilkin and
#2 Bobby Swigert Start the Game as Captains for our Mighty Leps and End
the Game with a Game Deciding Touchdown in a 28-14 NBC Clinching
Victory over the Marlington Dukes.
You know no one said it was going to be easy on Senior Night. Coach Paul Farrah
knew our Beloved Leps would be in for a Battle as Marlington came into Louisville Stadium on a
roll and Hungry for more.  Last Friday Night did not provide ideal Weather Conditions to say
the least, but Hats Off to Opening Day Landscape and the Fantastic Job in keeping our Home
Field Playable Week In and Week Out!  Your Efforts Are Very Much Appreciated!  As for the
Game, the Marlington Dukes struck early with a Fumble Recovery for a TD and minutes later an
impressive Drive that saw the Dukes take a 14-0 Lead with 10:32 to go in the Second Quarter.  I
guess you could say it was Wake-Up Call Time For Our Leps!  #31 Kyle DeHoff provided the first
Big Break for our Leps with a Huge Fumble Recovery at the Marlington 24 Yard Line.  Moments
Later behind the Blocking Of The FIVE Seniors Up which include #50 Bobby Gothot at Center,
#59 Dan McDonald at Right Guard, #78 Tyler Radalia at Left Guard, #65 Dan Davis at Right
Tackle, and #73 Joe Neff at Left Tackle,  Sophomore Quarterback #16 Chad Neff took a Zone Run
23 Yards for a Touchdown.  #87 Jaron Lohmeyer out of the Hold of #13 Toby Minster and Snap
of #50 Bobby Gothot nailed the PAT to cut the Lead to 14-7.  This remained the Score at the Half!
Before Second Half Action Is Discussed, A Shout Out Has To Go To Our Fine Freshman
Football Team Finishing 6 and 2 On The Season With A Dramatic 18-12 Victory Over The
Marlington Dukes.  My Man #23 Jeremy McQuilkin played a little banged up and entered the
Game at Quarterback leading  our Mighty Leps To Three Second Half Touchdowns with Pinpoint
Accuracy along with some Great Playmaking Ability by our Leps Receivers.  Also, our Leps Frosh
Defense was Very Stout in keeping the Dukes Scoreless in the Second Half.  Well Done Frosh!
Let’s not forget our Fine J.V. Squad who Finished 6 and 3 with a Season Ending Victory over
Marlington.  The Football Future is Bright in The VILLE!  Also, Very Well Done Girls and Boys
Cross Country Teams with your Fantastic 2nd and 3rd Place Division I District Finishes
respectively this past Weekend.  Now Go To Regionals And Get It Done!
One Thing I Think Our Leopard Faithful Including Me Take For Granted Is Our Fine
Defense.  There have been several times this Season where our “D” was called upon to keep our
Mighty Leps in the Game.  Last Friday Night proved to be no different.  I have nothing Official,
but I do not Think the Marlington Dukes had Positive Yardage from the 10:32 Mark of The
Second Quarter.  Coach Nick Lewis along with Coaches Mike Norris, Adam Burris, and Troy
Davis had these Boys Popping The Pads causing Three Second Half Fumbles for Our Leps.
Where Do You Start!  The Linebacking Core has been Fantastic and continues to Punish
opposing Ball Carriers along with being Fantastic in Coverage and Blitz Packages.  Senior #24
Hunter Potts keeps adding to his Leopard Legend status by Piling on the Tackles.  The Outside
Linebackers of Senior #34 Jake Adkins and Junior #9 Michael Schooley have been so
Disciplined with both Run and Pass Coverage Responsibilities in facing the Shotgun Spread
Offense looks.  How about our Defensive Backs!  This unit continually faces One and One
Coverage and is rarely out of Position.  Senior CB #31 Kyle DeHoff provides Sure Tackling and
Blanket Coverage, while Juniors #15 Jeremy White and #44 Mitch Sluss have been Rock Solid
Every Down.  #44 Sluss had a Huge Fumble Recovery and Return in the Second Half of Action.
Finally, Let’s Talk About The Front Five Rotation That Continually Wreaked Freakin’ Havoc In
The Duke Backfield All Night Long!  Led by Seniors #55 Joe Poyser, #51 Joe Henderson in the
middle and Senior #49 Matt Wharmby at End, this unit which includes NewComers Junior #61
Zac Whaley and Sophomore #81 Jake Sluss along with Seniors #50 Bobby Gothot, #36 Billy
Kennedy, and #14 Dan Zavarelli have been Freakin’ Outstanding to Say the Least!  #55 Poyser
and #51 Henderson Both Caused Big Fumbles While Both #36 Kennedy and #49 Wharmby Each
Recovered Fumbles For Our Mighty Leps in the Second Half.  Keep It Up “D”---There Is A Ways
To Go!
Along The Line Of The “D” Keeping The Dukes Scoreless!  It Was The “O”s  Turn. Coach
John DeMarco along with Coaches Dan Radalia, Brian Beatty, and Quality Control Coach Greg
Beatty faced one of their Stiffest Challenges Facing our Exact Defense and a Coaching Staff that
was very Familiar with our Style.  Well, our Leps figured it out Fairly Early in the Second Half as
Super Soph #7 Lucas Poyser found Paydirt at the 8:00 Minute Mark from 27 Yards out to Knot
the Score at 14 apiece.  Five Minutes Later, on a Huge 4th and Five, #16 Chad Neff found Senior
#25 Cody Stocker in the End Zone for a 26 Yard TD Pitch and Catch.  #25 Stocker showed Great
Concentration and made a Great Adjustment to Haul in the Go Ahead Score!  The only other
completion on the Night was to #5 Joe Stoffer(Barely!) for Five!!!!! Yards.  Again, the Receiving
Core which includes #21 Jared Strasser, #22 Lee Ferguson, #9 Michael Schooley, and #15
Jeremy White was Busy Blocking Downfield and continues to be very important for our Offense
to have Success!  Coach Dustin Nicholas had to be Proud of our Kicker #87 Jaron Lohmeyer who
was 4 for 4 on PAT attempts and our Fine Punter #24 Hunter Potts who assisted in Field
Position All Night even in Terrible Playing Conditions.  Also, #5 Joe Stoffer did a Great Job on
both Kickoff and Punt Returns the entire night in Taking Care of The Football and Gaining
Positive Yardage.
It was Great to see on Senior Night that our Fine Seniors which #62 Nick Case, #77 Bobby
Marquardt, #27 Michael Brown, #48 Justin Moulin, #18 Tyler Barnes, #29 Josh Wolfe all got
Time on the Leps “O” along with our Fine Senior Contributor TB Tyler Burk and #56 Stephen
Ellenberger who was a Big Part of Senior Night!  Well,  I want to end this Article the Way I
started the Article.  No Matter what happens in our Playoff Run, I will Never Forget the Feeling I
had when I saw #49 Matt Wharmby pick up that Fumble and Dart 35 Yards to Our End Zone for
The Game Clinching Score!  With #51 Joe Henderson and #55 Joe Poyser providing the
Disruption, #49 Wharmby made the Biggest Play Of The Night To Assist In Clinching the 2009
NBC Championship for our Beloved Leps!
