Leopards Grind Out Yards And Grind Up Clock In 23-15 Victory Over NW

You know when a Coaching Staff and Teammates Find Out That Their Star Player Is Out Just Hours Before Kickoff, The Reaction could definitely include a Shock And Awe Effect! All Ohio Performer and Captain #2 Bobby Swigert received very bad news and will have to recover from a Foot Injury for the next several weeks. Since breaking into the line-up as a Freshman mid way through the 2006 Season, #2 Swigert has been a mainstay for the Varsity Leopards while playing in 37 consecutive Varsity Games. Bobby has been a Difference Maker for our Leps in every phase of the game and will be making a Big Decision this fall referencing his future Football Home at the Division I Level! Get Healthy TWOOOOOOO and McQ!

With that being said, there is no Time for Coach Paul Farrah and our Mighty Leps to feel Sorry for themselves. There Was A Freakin’ Game To Play And Our Boys Are Only 1/3 Of The Way To The Ultimate Goal. Where Better To Start then with Coach Dan Radalia and his Boys Up Front! On The First Possession from our own 6 yard line and the new Two-Back Look, the Boys Up Front Went To Work. The Five Seniors which include Captain #50 Bobby Gothot, #73 Joe Neff, #65 Dan Davis, #59 Dan McDonald, and #78 Tyler Radalia paved the way and Grinded the Clock for a 94 Yard Scoring Drive to Paydirt that lasted all the way to the Second Quarter. The Offense only Threw once that series as Super Soph #7 Lucas Poyser and Junior #44 Mitchell Sluss became the Two Headed Monster Grinding Out Yards. Behind Center and getting his first Varsity Start was Junior #13 Toby Minster. #13 Minster was very poised and truly Ran the Offense Very Well behind the Leadership of Offensive Coordinator John DeMarco. The 94 Yard culminated in a 24 Yard Touchdown Run by #7 Poyser, who darted around the Left Side and Turned the Corner to Paydirt. #87 Jaron Lohmeyer nailed the PAT for a 7-0 Lead.

Another key aspect for our Leopards definitely was Special Teams! After a Northwest Tying Score, #5 Joey "The Climb" Stoffer took the ensuing Kickoff 35 Yards through the Seam to give Our Leopards Great Field Position. After several plays and a Fourth Down on the 26 Yard Line, Coach Paul Farrah looked to Kicking Coach Dustin Nicholas to send out Stand-Out #87 Jaron Lohmeyer for a 43 Yard Field Goal Attempt. From the Snap of #50 Bobby Gothot and the Hold of #13 Toby Minster, #87 Lohmeyer Drilled The Leopard Record Setting Field Goal straight through the Uprights for a 10-7 Leopard Lead. As stated, #87 Lohmeyer nailed the Longest Field Goal in Louisville History just a week after Kicking a Game Winning Field Goal against Canton South. By the Way, Special Teams were not done! #6 Logan Henkel pooched a perfect Kick that Seniors #48 Justin Moulin, #31 Kyle DeHoff, #14 Dan Zavarelli, #49 Mat Wharmby, and #21 Jared Strasser were All Over It! #21 Strasser came up with Huge Recovery at the Northwest 33 Yard Line. Running Back Coach Brian Beatty started Licking his Chops as the "O" got to Go To Work Again! #34 Jake Adkins got his opportunity to Grind Out some Yards along with #7 Poyser and #44 Sluss as our Leopards Put It In The End Zone again. #44 Mitchell Sluss Bulldozed through the Line for 2 Yards and the Lohmeyer PAT made the Halftime Score---------------Leopards 17 Indians 7!!!

As our Leopard Band Dominated another Halftime Performance, Kudos go out to the Leopard Nation and Leopard Universe(Well Done V-BALL Team—Keep It Up!!!) Student Section along with our Fine Cheerleading Squad! Speaking of Cheerleaders, Congratulations to Caitlin Duckworth and Melinda Mason along with Queen Julia Baker, Becky Wyss, and Alyx Crislip(V-BALL Player) on being chosen for the 2009 Constitution Queen and Court!

Well, what should I talk about next!! I Know----The FREAKIN’ Leopard Defense!!! When You "Spread The Fun" sometimes the Defense does not get the Credit They Deserve! Let Me Tell You!!!—This Is The True Strength Behind Much of the Continued Success. Defensive Coordinator Nick Lewis has our Boys Ready To Play Week In And Week Out and Trust Me Defending the Spread Is Not Easy!!!! Led by Captains #24 Hunter Potts and #34 Jake Adkins, the Defense was once again Stifling. The Indians had Negative 8 on the Ground for the Evening. With our Leopards running the Nickel, Line Backer Coach Troy Davis was forced to have his Linebackers in Coverage. #9 Michael Schooley made the most of it with a Huge Pick to give the Leps Great Field Position. #34 Adkins and #24 Potts did very well Shadowing the NW Quarterback and Covering Speedsters. Speaking of Covering Speedsters, the DB’s once again stepped up without All-Ohio Performer #2 Bobby Swigert. Led by #31 Kyle DeHoff, the Defensive Backs which included Super Soph #83 Adam Nees at the other Corner with #15 Jeremy White and #44 Mitchell Sluss Floating at the Safety Positions. This Crew was Manned Up All Evening Facing the Five Wide Approach and did a Fantastic Job All Night Long. A couple of NW’s Big Plays were a Result of Broken Plays. Speaking of Broken Plays and WHY!!! Why, just ask Defensive Line Coaches Mike "Horse" Norris and Adam "Eye Black" Burris!!! With #55 Joe Poyser and #51 Joe Henderson along #61 Zac Whaley, #49 Mat Wharmby, #50 Bobby Gothot and Super Soph #16 Chad Neff, the NW QB was Running for His Life!!!---#51 Joe Henderson had a Big Bat Down and a Partially Blocked Punt on a Quick Kick!!! #55 Joe Poyser added to His County Leading Sack Total of 10!#16 Chad Neff and #50 Bobby Gothot made one of the Biggest Plays Of The Night As #50 Gothot Flushed the NW QB out and #16 Chad Neff cleaned up for a 22 Yard Loss on NW’s Last Series to Secure the Win For The Leps!! Speaking Of Securing The Win, the "O" Line of Big Mac, T-RAD, Neffer, GOT!HOT! and DD paved the way for Super Soph #7 Lucas Poyser to Grind Out 139 Yards on 33 Carries and 2 TD’s!(Boy, Does He Remind Me Of Big Brother!!!) Welcome To Paydirt Little Poysssssss!!! #44 Mitchell Sluss added 69 Yards on 19 Carries. The Leopard Receiving Core spent most of their night Blocking as our Leps Ran the Ball 61 Times---WOW!!!—Back To The Federal League Days! "Y" Receivers #21 Jared Strasser and #22 Lee Ferguson did a Great Job Blocking while #5 Joe Stoffer led the Leps with 4 Catches for 20 Yards. "X" Receiver #25 Cody Stocker added 2 Catches for 37 Yards! #13 Toby Minster was a very efficient 7 of 13 Passing for 64 Yards and NO Interceptions in the New Two Back Set. All In All, it was a very good Win For Our Mighty Leps!! Yo Lance, KEEP and GET Our Boys Healthy!! Love Ya Leps!!!

This upcoming week, Our Mighty Leps Travel to The Branch to face the West Branch Warriors in Week 6 of the 2009 Season! Support our Frosh at Home as they look to stay Undefeated in the NBC and JV as they both square off against West Branch!!
