Our Mighty Leps Complete Undefeated Regular Season With Hard Fought Win At Minerva

Playoff Football Is On The Horizon!

I guess no one said that it was going to be easy!  Going on the road to an up and coming Program against a Team that needed a Victory to make the 2009 State Playoffs.  That being said,  Coach Paul Farrah and our Mighty Leps scratched and clawed to a Hard Fought 25 to 7 Regular Season ending Victory over the Minerva Lions.

It was just a matter of time before a Team truly Hovered over the Line of Scrimmage and Challenged our Strong Running Game.  Last Friday definitely was the night that adjustments had to be made.  Our Leps Offense had a very Tough Time getting started and Offensive Coordinator John DeMarco had to find answers  as Minerva hit a Big Play late in the First Quarter to take a 7-0 Lead on our Leps.  You want Answers!  I got Answers!  The Answer in Week 10 was Junior #13 Toby Minster who entered the contest in the middle of Second Quarter and was the Spark that our Mighty Leps needed to get back into the Game.  #13 Minster found Junior #15 Jeremy White on an out cut.  One Play later, #13 Minster threw “The Bomb”(My Favorite Play) and found #15 White again down the left sideline for the Touchdown.  #15 Jeremy White completely laid out and made a Fantastic One-Handed Catch 31 Yards Down the Field.  Big Players Make Big Plays and Jeremy White was not BIG on that Play.  #15 was HUGE!!!!!   Also, it is pretty amazing how we can put our Starting QB on “D”, and the First Play in at Defensive End  #16 Chad Neff can Blind Side the Opposing Quarterback to assist in getting the Ball back in our Offenses Hands.  Speaking of Huge, with our Mighty Leps down  7-6 and Time Winding Down in the Second Quarter, #13 Toby Minster found Senior #25 Cody Stocker on a 12 Yard Slant for a TD that would give our Mighty Leps the Lead just before Halftime.  None of this would be possible w/o the Boys Up Front led by Coach Dan Radalia.  As stated earlier, Yards on the Ground were hard to come by for both #7 Lucas Poyser and #16 Chad Neff.  Coach Brian Beatty had to Coach #7 Poyser up to get back into the Pass Blocking Mode as did our Fine Senior Offensive Line.  Led by Senior Captain #50 Bobby Gothot, #59 Dan McDonald,  #78 Tyler Radalia, #73 Joe Neff, and #65 Dan Davis, The Beef Up Front gave #13 Toby Minster time to pick out his Receivers and put Two Scores up in a Two Minute Span that put our Beloved Leps up 12-7 at The HALF!

Before we go to Second Half Action,  Way To Go Boys Cross Country Team --- who took Second in the Regional Meet led by a Second Place Finish by Curtis Hanle.  The Second Place Finish will enable the Boys Cross Country Team to Qualify for the State Meet next week in Columbus.  The Girls Cross Country Team led by Junior Mattie Rankin and her Second Place Finish just missed out on the Team qualifying due to a Tie-Breaker.  Freshman MacKenzie Rankin also qualified with her sister finishing 15th in the Regional Meet.  Best of Luck to Both the Boys and Girls CC Runners next weekend at the State Meet.  Get It Done!!!

How about the Great Job our Fine Water Girls  Lauren Groves, Christine Farnum, and Danni Whaley along My Man TB Tyler Burk have done in keeping our Boys Hydrated and Supporting this Fine Leopard Program!

Another shout out has to go out to our Fine Band also known as “The Pride Of Louisville”, our Fabulous Cheerleaders led by Senior Mascot Alax Meyers, and the Leopard Nation Student Section  for another Dominating Performance in Pre-Game, Halftime, and Post-Game Spirit and Performances.  Keep It Up!!------------We Got Some Things To Get Done!!!

Now, to the Second Half of Action!  Over and Over, one area that  seems like we All may just take for Granted is this Unbelievable Leopard Defense.  This is another example in recent weeks where our Boys were Behind and the Coach Nick Lewis led Crew could not give up an Inch!  Well, on this particular Friday Night, The Defensive Line and Linebackers Pinned Their Ears Back And Won Us This GAME!  Coach Nick Lewis, Coach Troy Davis, Coach Mike Norris, and Coach Adam Burris put their heads together and The Leps “D” Brought The House!  Senior #34 Jake Adkins set the Tempo with his relentless pursuit of the Minerva QB with Two Huge Sacks.  #24 Hunter Potts continued with his Bone Crushing Hits on anyone who touched the Ball.  On the Defensive Line,  #55 Joe Poyser continued to Inch Closer to the All-Time Leopard Sack Record adding another Big Stop Behind The Line Of Scrimmage.  #51 Joe Henderson again Plugged the Entire Middle and #50 Bobby Gothot added a Big Sack for our Leps!  #61 Zac Whaley and #36 Billy Kennedy were Unbelievably Important in the Rotation for our Leps and #61 Whaley reached the Minerva QB.  At Defensive End, Super Soph #81 Jake Sluss was Solid as a Rock  along with a Sack by Senior #49 Matt Wharmby coming off the Edge.  As discussed earlier #16 Chad Neff came back on Defense and added Two Sacks after not playing Defense for the past Few Weeks.  Can you say SWARMING!!!!  I truly saved the Best For Last on this Friday Night.  I personally look at Games by Number of Scores and with our Mighty Leps only up by 5 points, a TD could have put the Game in Serious Jeopardy.  Never Fear, #9 Michael Schooley was Here!  #9 Schooley made the Play of the Game as Schooley jumped in front of a Pass and Reached Paydirt for a 6 Yard Interception Return with 18 Seconds left in the Third Quarter.  This Score proved to be the Difference as the Wind Came Out Of The Lions(Not Detroit) Sails.  #87 Jaron Lohmeyer nailed the Extra Point for a 19 to 7 Lead.  Another area that allowed our Eight Up Front Go To Work was the Truly Fine Efforts of our Defensive Backfield.  Minerva was Throwing the Ball around the Field all night long, but only completed 8 Passes on the Evening due in part to #44 Mitch Sluss playing Free Safety, #15 Jeremy White,  #31 Kyle DeHoff, and #83 Adam Nees at the Corners.  #44 Sluss has been nothing short of Fantastic All Year Long in Run Support coming up from his Safety Position and still covers Tons Of Ground in stopping Teams Passing Attacks.  Also, what a Night Super Soph  #83 Adam Nees  had in Subbing for Senior #31 Kyle DeHoff who was Cramping Up.  #83 Nees was tested often as was our other Corner #15 Jeremy White with neither Player giving the Minerva Receivers an Inch of Room on Routes.  Well Done DB’s.  Again,  this Leopard Defense was Lights Out in keeping Minerva Scoreless for Three Quarters of Action and Ensure Another Leopards Victory!!!

Speaking of Ensuring A Leopard Victory, our Leps “O” was not Done!  All Year, #5 Joe Stoffer has seen Double Coverage and this night was no Different!  #5 Stoffer was still able to Haul In Six Balls for 48 Yards for our Leps along with being Extremely Efficient in the Leopards Return Game.  More Importantly, #5 Stoffer was used as a Decoy as #13 Toby Minster was able to find #25 Cody Stocker deep down the Middle for a 33 Yard Touchdown to Seal The Victory.  It was great to see the Receiving Core get back into a Rhythm as #13 Toby Minster completed  12 of 21 Passes for 160 Yards and 3 TD’s on the Night.  #15 Jeremy White and #25 Cody Stocker came up Big as  #21 Jared Strasser, #22 Lee Ferguson and #9 Michael Schooley also contributed in the Victory!  All in All, our Mighty Leps came up with a Regular Season Ending 25 to 7 Victory and became the 11th Team in Louisville History to go 10 AND 0!  Well Done, but The Second Season Is Just Beginning!!!

Yes, The Second Season Has Begun!  This Is What Our Leopard Faithful Have Been Waiting For!  PLAYOFF FOOTBALL!  It All Starts this Upcoming Friday in The VILLE as OUR Mighty Leps take on the Extremely Talented 8 and 2 Columbus Marion-Franklin Red Devils in Round 1 of the 2009 State Football Playoffs.  Please stop out before the Game Behind The Fence Opposite The Scoreboard At The Stadium For Our Louisville Leopard Community Tailgate.     ALL ARE WELCOME!
